Selected Works in Context
Born in Germany, I am also a New Zealand citizen. I hold Masters Degrees in Ceramics and Art History and have been working and exhibiting both, in New Zealand and overseas, for the last 35 years. With the focus on colour, I am a (mostly) abstract and minimalist painter, but usually work within the parameters of a specific concept. My sculptures are informed by ancient artefacts and modernist interpretations.
For the last decade my main engagement has been with the Square and Grid – themes that represent one of the paradigms in Modern Art. On that basis, I developed several large series of paintings as well as individual works. Most recently, I have been confronting the concepts of circle and sphere. Currently spending time in the beautiful Cook Islands, my involvement is with an art project using materials commonly designated as `waste´.
This website gives an insight into my output to date. Selected works from significant series are placed into an art-historical context which can be read up on under the heading: Context above. Some original works can be purchased and certain paintings are available as small edition digital prints.
